My faith in God:

Growing up in a Christian home and wanting nothing more than to please people with my commitment to our beliefs, the logical course led me straight to seminary. But the nagging questions that had haunted me throughout my childhood, continued to hold me back, even once I became an assistant pastor. As a faithful student of the Bible I searched, researched, and soul-searched in my quest for the truth. My conclusions took me down a path I had never imagined; a path that greatly altered my perception of faith and religion. This is the journey, first of deconstructing the beliefs upon which I was raised, both from the source of that belief, the Bible, as well as from the conduit of that belief, the Church; and second, of discovering a previously unknown world filled with boundless possibility.

Perhaps the greatest struggle in this journey has been to overcome my own fear and guilt upon which my former faith had been built. The greatest blessing has been the discovery of true freedom and peace for the first time in my life. The ultimate goal of “The Journey” is to show that truth cannot be contained in a book or an organization. Truth is all around us if we will but broaden our horizons and open our eyes. All we need is an open mind, without preconceived notions. This is what will make the world a better place.

Hi, my name is Doug Tozier.

I have believed in God for as long as I can remember.

My faith in God has undergone significant change in recent years, prompting me to write a book which I hope to have published very soon.

"The Journey That Is Faith" chronicles my own journey from blindfolded faith to discerning faith over a period of about 4 years.

But the journey continues as I discover the truest expression of the freedom and peace I have found in my life.

Faith, then, is a river flowing wherever the earth allows.
